Yoko Ono Lennon (born February 18, 1933 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese musician and artist. She was already a minor celebrity in the art world when she achieved worldwide fame or notoriety through her relationship and eventual marriage with then-Beatle John Lennon. She currently resides in New York City. Born into a privileged background, she was the oldest child of Isoko Isuda, a member of one of Japan's wealthiest banking families, and Eisuke Ono, who sacrificed a career as a classically-trained pianist to work as a banker. She attended the exclusive Gakushuin academy in Tokyo from primary school to the college division.
